Our friends at Creative Loafing, namely Max Blau, wrote in this article yesterday that our esteemed mayor, Kasim Reed, has joined with other city notables to update the city’s infrastructure, including a possible change to the city’s famous painted behemoth, the Cyclorama.
Reed spokesman Carlos Campos says that conversations about what’s next for the Cyclorama painting are “still ongoing.” City officials say the piece of art, one of only two panoramic murals of its kind in the United States, has an appraised value of $25 million. The painting could be relocated to either the Atlanta History Center or a Downtown facility near Centennial Olympic Park.
Instead of moving or selling the Cyclorama, why not just update it to appeal more to today’s youth? They love taking the pot.
